Veles (native: Велес) has been found by many to be truly an adorable place,
one that people fall in love with at the first sight. A city of poetry, culture,
history and a long tradition. A town with plentiful and precious cultural heritage
and 13th and 19th century churches, Veles bathes in warm sunrays 240 days a year
owing to its moderate continental climate.
Veles is a municipality of 35,000 people. Its main feature is the world’s largest
poetry gathering, Veles Poetry Evenings, attended every year by at least 200
renowned guests from the whole world. The municipality is interested in development
of agriculture, usage of forests and protection of the lake which was enlisted into
the UNESCO protected sites in 1980. |
